#80 05-20-2012 Race Day Radio

The fate of the harness racing has been in the news for months, because the racing industry has been facing serious declines.  Brian Tropea, General Manager of The Ontario Harness Horse Association, stopped by to bring us up to date and fill us in reactions and response to the Ontario budget announced recently, highlighting the government's plans for OLG and Ontario's horse racing and breeding industry. The entire Ontario horse racing and breeding industry and more than 60,000 jobs are in jeopardy based on the cancellation of the OLG Slots at Racetracks Program.

You will also hear the standardbred segment by Nicky G, 2009 and a standardbred segment by Rebecca Tower, 2011, mentioning the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society.  As well, Kim Logue's original fiction for hoofbeats/pony daze blog excerpt, Lilith Sings.
